Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

VedicSync ("we", "us", "our") is operated by VedicSync Private Limited, a company incorporated under the laws of India, with its registered office at Block A, Mantri Lithos, Manyata Tech Park, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560045, India. We operate the website vedicsync.ai (and our forthcoming mobile applications) (collectively, the "Platform").

2. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

2.1 Information you provide

• Account information: Name, email address (via Google sign-in or a one-time email code).
• Birth details: Date of birth, time of birth, place of birth — used exclusively for Vedic astrological chart calculation.
• Current location: City, latitude, longitude, timezone — used for location-aware timing (Panchang, Rahu Kaal, Muhurta).
• Life context: Gender, occupation, relationship status, primary concerns, life events — provided voluntarily to personalize AI guidance.
• Family/circle member data: Birth details of family members, business owners, or prospective matches that you choose to add. These are someone else's personal data. By adding them you confirm you have that person's consent (or, for your own child, that you are their parent or guardian). Anyone whose details were added without their agreement can email hello@vedicsync.ai and we will remove them — no account needed.
• Chat conversations: Messages exchanged with the AI companion (Saarthi).
• Voice recordings (only if you use the mic): If you dictate a question, the short audio clip is sent to our speech-to-text provider (OpenAI) purely to convert it into text, which is then placed in the message box for you to review before you send anything. The audio is never stored by us — it is held in memory for the length of the request and is not written to our database, disk or logs. Voice input is optional; the mic is only ever active while you hold it.
• Payment information: Processed by Razorpay (India) and Stripe (international) on the website, and by RevenueCat together with the Apple App Store or Google Play on the mobile app. We do not store card numbers or bank details on our servers.

2.2 Information collected automatically

• Device information (browser type, OS, screen resolution).
• Usage data (pages visited, features used, session duration).
• IP address (for approximate geo-location and security).

3. How we use your information

• Chart calculation: Birth details are processed by VedicSync's proprietary Vedic engine (Lahiri Ayanamsa), validated to 1/100th of a degree against Swiss Ephemeris and Jagannatha Hora (the professional standards for serious Jyotish software) and verified by 433 automated accuracy checks to generate accurate Vedic birth charts. No birth data is sent to third-party calculation services.
• AI interpretation: Chart data and life context are provided to our AI system (Anthropic Claude) to generate personalized Vedic guidance. Your data is not used to train AI models. Anthropic may retain API inputs for a short period (currently up to 30 days) for trust-and-safety review before deleting them; they are never used for training.
• Speech-to-text: If you use voice input, the audio clip alone is sent to OpenAI and converted to text. It is not accompanied by your chart, your conversation history or your identity, and OpenAI does not use API data to train its models. Everything else about your account is unaffected if you never use the mic.
• Daily intelligence: Current location is used to calculate locally accurate Panchang, Rahu Kaal, and auspicious timing windows.
• Platform improvement: Aggregated, anonymised usage data helps us improve features and user experience.
• Communication: Email for Daily Alignment, weekly pulses, and important account updates (with your consent).

4. Data sharing and disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. VedicSync is AI-only — your data is never shared with human astrologers or third-party advisors. We share data only in these circumstances:

• Service providers: Supabase (database hosting), Vercel (application hosting), Anthropic (AI processing), OpenAI (speech-to-text — receives the audio clip only when you use voice input, never your chart or conversation history), Google (Places API — birthplace and current-location data is sent for geocoding), Razorpay/Stripe (website payments), RevenueCat (mobile in-app purchase management, together with the Apple App Store or Google Play), Resend (transactional email), Sentry (crash and error diagnostics — technical error reports, not your chart or conversation content), and Mixpanel (product analytics — which features are used, identified only by an anonymous account id). Each operates under strict data processing agreements.
• Where your data is stored: Your account, chart and conversation data is stored on Supabase infrastructure in India. Payment records are held by Razorpay and Stripe (website) or RevenueCat and the relevant app store (mobile) in their own regions.
• Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
• Circle admins: If you make another member an admin of a family, business, or matchmaking circle, they can manage that circle's membership — editing, removing, and adding members. An admin cannot see or access your personal conversations with Saarthi, or anyone else's chat history. Only the circle's owner can grant or revoke admin status.

5. Data storage and security

• All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256).
• Database hosted on Supabase infrastructure with Row Level Security (RLS) policies ensuring users can only access their own data.
• Authentication via Google sign-in or a one-time email code — we never store passwords.

6. Data retention

• How to delete your VedicSync account: Open the VedicSync app, go to Profile, tap Delete my account, then confirm Delete everything. No account needed to request deletion instead — email us at hello@vedicsync.ai.
• Deleting only some data, without deleting your account:
  • A Life Context fact (something Saarthi remembered about you): open Profile → Life Context and archive the fact. This removes it immediately — if it came from a profile field (e.g. occupation, relationship status), that field is cleared too.
  • A family or circle member: open the circle, select the member, and choose Remove. This deletes that person's birth details and chart from our systems.
  • A planner event: open Planner and delete the event from your calendar.
• Account data is retained as long as your account is active. We do not currently delete inactive accounts automatically.
• Chat conversations are retained to deliver the service and maintain context within your conversation.
• Generated reports expire and regenerate after 7 days.
• On deletion: your data is removed from our live database immediately. Encrypted infrastructure backups held by our hosting provider may retain copies for a short period (currently up to 7 days) before being overwritten.
• The one exception: payment and invoice records are retained for as long as Indian tax and company law requires (currently up to eight years), even after you delete your account. We keep only what those laws require — never your chart or your conversations.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information via your profile page.
• Deletion: Request permanent deletion of your account and all data (see §6), or remove specific data — a Life Context fact, a family/circle member, a planner event — without deleting your account, directly from within the app.
• Portability: Receive your data in a machine-readable format.
• Withdraw consent: Disable Daily Alignment emails or weekly pulse notifications at any time.
• Restrict processing: Limit how we use your data while disputes are resolved.

8. Children's privacy

Accounts are for adults only — you must be 18 or older to create one, and we do not knowingly collect data directly from a minor. Parents and guardians may add a child's birth details to their own account for family-unit astrology; that data is entered and controlled entirely by the adult account holder.

To be plain about how this is verified: when you add a child you confirm, by self-declaration, that you are their parent or legal guardian. We do not independently verify that declaration. We never profile children, never advertise to them, and never use their data for anything beyond the family guidance you asked for. If a child's details were added without the right to do so, email hello@vedicsync.ai and we will remove them.

9. International users

VedicSync is operated from India, and your primary data — your account, charts and conversations — is stored in India. Some service providers process data outside India: for example, AI responses are generated by Anthropic in the United States, voice clips are transcribed by OpenAI (also US-based) when you use the mic, international card payments are handled by Stripe, mobile in-app purchases are processed by RevenueCat (also US-based) together with the Apple App Store or Google Play, and product analytics and crash diagnostics (Mixpanel, Sentry) may be processed on their infrastructure abroad — carrying usage and technical signals only, never your chart or conversations. Using the Platform therefore involves some cross-border processing, and by using it you consent to that transfer. The same protections in this policy apply regardless of where you are.

10. Cookies, analytics and crash reporting

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We run no advertising trackers and no cross-site tracking of any kind, and we never sell or share your data with data brokers.

To keep the product working well, we use two privacy-scoped services: Mixpanel for product analytics (which features are used and how, so we can improve them) and Sentry for crash and error diagnostics (so we can find and fix bugs). Both see only technical and product-usage signals — never your birth details, chart, or conversations with Saarthi. Where they need to distinguish one account from another, they use an anonymous account id, not your name, email or phone number.

You can opt out of product analytics at any time by contacting our Grievance Officer (below); crash diagnostics never carry personal content. If our use of these services materially changes, we will update this section before it does.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or an in-app notification. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
